Wireless charging for smart locks: sealed, no charging port

The biggest service cost in smart locks is battery replacement. Embedding a receiver module inside the lock body and powering it through the housing removes the charging port entirely — better IP rating, better appearance, fewer field failures.

What decides success in this application

1. Transmission through the housing

Receiver sits inside the lock body; the transmitter sits outside. 4–10mm designs cover typical housings.

2. No cut-out

Every cut-out breaks the seal. Contactless charging is the point.

3. Small receiver footprint

Lock bodies are packed with motor, battery and mainboard. Receiver PCBs around 25×19mm fit.

4. Low standby draw

Receiver quiescent current directly affects battery life.
